About

The original about

The plan is to talk about books— novels and short storiesread in the original language (where this is relevant) and to talk about them in detail. The tone is not one of literary criticism per se, but rather cultural context, what the author does that is good or not so good and issues and concepts raised in the books. The assumption is always that the reader has read the portion of the book under discussion, and so generally there will be spoilers; so it’s important to read the book/novel/story first (if one minds such things)!

The selection of works will tend to be a mix of lots of science fiction (mostly classics, especially those from the Golden Age of science fiction) literary classics and odd works that catch my fancy– although on rare occasions I may include some fairly popular literature. (Be forewarned: at some point, I am going to have to go through the Harry Potter books.)

I am new to blogging and busy and so am not sure how frequent the posts will be, and indeed this will likely vary, so please bear with me.

addendum

I wanted to keep the original statement of what this blog is to be about, but I have decided because of the pace this blog is setting that if I want to do a discussion of science fiction, then I’ll need start a new blog which limits itself to one entry per book. I will link to this blog when I have created that new blog.

    Hello,

I’m putting together a list of the 50 best Greek literature blogs, and I would like to include yours. However, I am required to have a contact e-mail for each blog (not to publish, just so we can be in touch as needed). Please send me your contact info if you would like to be included.
    Thanks! Jenny
